We All Need Some Downtime and TLC

During times like these, good health is essential. Without good health everything is uphill. What seemed mundane before, becomes increasingly challenging: shopping, going to work, cooking, doing laundry, binge-watching your favorite show.

Staying healthy is essential to living our lives the way we want to. When we feel good, we have energy; a sense of well-being and happiness. There is no price tag on being healthy and happy.

With all of this noise going on in the world, my body is feeling run down and my mind is overwhelmed. The media is saying stay inside and retreat. With many schools closed and work places on hold, now is the perfect time to give ourselves some tender loving care.

Let’s take this time to refresh, recharge and refuel our bodies.

How can we do this?

My background in herbal medicine and holistic health says to fuel the body with the basics: sunshine, laughter, whole foods, dry brushing and exercise.

As a traditional naturopath, I also fuel my body with herbal infusions and supplements. When I am feeling run down I rely on nutritional supplements to infuse my body with essential nutrients that assist in raising my energy levels back to normal.

I have comprised a short list of supplements that are geared toward providing the body with quantities of nutrients essential to maintaining good health.

The list of supplements are linked to my Nature’s Sunshine page. Having used and recommended Nature’s Sunshine products for over 15 years, I know of its quality and efficacy. Nature’s Sunshine is also NSF certified.

Without further adieu, here are the top 8 supplements that I love:

L-Theanine– an anti-cancer supplement which contains the anticancer ingredient found in green tea.

Indol-3-Carbinol-acts as an antioxidant, can stimulate natural detoxification enzymes, and supports normal hormone metabolism, particularly that of estrogren.

Multi-vitamins– Vitamins and minerals play a key role in growth and development, physical fitness, mental aptitude and in supporting the body’s systems.

Coenzyme Q10– has cardio protective abilities, has been shown to be an effective antioxidant, protects against lipid peroxidation as well as DNA and protein oxidation, and can help to regenerate other antioxidants.

Glucosamine and Chondroitin– Glucosamine provides the necessary building blocks for forming new cartilages, while chondroitin helps to protect existing cartilage.

Lipoic Acid– protects against damage to the cells caused by oxidative stress and free radicles. Lipoic acid is used in the treatment of diabetes by making cells more insulin sensitive.

Oregon Grape– Oregon grape extract is a powerful antioxidant.

Chlorophyll– Known to support your body on both a molecular and cellular level, chlorophyll promotes intestinal, digestive and immune health. Boost energy and overall well-being.

Staying healthy is crucial to living a happy life. What are you doing to stay healthy? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
